ADC Kargil inaugurates Zonal Level Inter School Tournaments

Kargil, May 16, 2023: Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani today inaugurated Zonal Level Inter-School Tournaments at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Bemathang, Kargil organized by Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil under the umbrella of Department of Youth Services and Sports Kargil.

The ADC was the chief guest on the occasion, Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil, officers and officials of the District Youth Services and Sports Department Kargil, teachers of different schools were present at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that the administration is committed to promote sports in the district.

While appreciating the participants, he said the sports activities are part and parcel of the education and the students in the modern age and they need to participate in sports activities positively.

While talking about the importance, the ADC said sports is necessary for the physical and mental health of students.

He advised the students to keep themselves away from the drug abuse. He added that the young generation are the nation makers.

While appreciating the teachers, the ADC said that teachers have to work with dedication and prepare students to participate in district and national level tournaments.

The Zonal Physical Education Officer Kargil informed that from middle to higher secondary level school, 58 schools of Kargil Block will participate in the inter-school tournaments in volleyball, handball and athletic events.

The tournaments started with under-19 boys and girls volleyball and handball and nearly 300 students participated on day one. The tournament will continue for under 14 and under 17 boys and girls.

As per officials after the block level tournaments, they will select the students for district-level tournaments and then they will be given a chance to participate in UT level tournaments and then participate in national level sports tournaments.
