DC Santosh reviews status of JJM works in Kargil, directs to scale up ongoing works

Kargil, May 16, 2023:

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the status of works under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and directed to scale up ongoing JJM works in the district.

Chief Planning Officer, Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineer, AEEs, JEs, Nodal Officer JJM, PMU Leader, JJM, ISA team besides other concerned officers attended the meeting. Executive Engineer, PHE informed the chair about various ongoing works under the JJM in the district.

The DC was informed about works that have been tendered in Sub Division Left, Right, Headquarter and Drass Block, physical works completed, progress of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs), status of water testing labs, social audit report, physical verification report, pending tenders and allotments of works.

The DC emphasized that every effort has to be made to ensure that the goal of tap water to all households is achieved as per the projected timeline.

He said that the JJM is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all the households.

The DC directed all the concerned officers to scale up pace of works under JJM to achieve the target within the stipulated time.

He also directed the officers to regularly monitor the quality and progress of all allotted works for time-bound completion and also inquire the short supply of pipes.

While stressing on widespread IEC activities such as wall painting, hoarding, success stories, radio jingles, painting competitions etc., DC Kargil said that information dissemination is an important component of the mission

He directed to resolve issues such as agriculture land disputes, pending borewell, physical verification, pending social audit, additional DPR allotments and also directed to ensure all physical works to be done by July 15, 2023.

The DC also directed the concerned officials to expedite the tendering and evaluation processes after administrative approval and technical sanction is granted by the competent authority, besides ensuring the allotment of works before the fixed deadlines.
