Advisor Ladakh reviews progress of Tourism & Culture Department

Leh, December 15: Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula today chaired a meeting on CAPEX (SDP & State Sector) of the Departments of Tourism & Culture, Labour & Employment; Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Libraries & Archives.

Reviewing the Action Plan under Capital expenditure budget 2021-2022 of the departments, Advisor Ladakh directed that the ongoing works under state plan should be completed as per the action plan.

He further, directed the concerned officials to come up with innovative and meaningful projects that would offer new tourism products in Ladakh. In this regard, promoting of adventure sports such as Zip Lining, Rock Climbing and Para Gliding among others was discussed. He also directed the officials to formulate a comprehensive development plan for Indus riverfront, Sangam and Pangong lake as these are major tourist attractions.

Highlighting the importance of renewing Ladakhi culture and architecture, Advisor Ladakh urged the officials of the Department of Tourism & Culture to come up with a scheme for restoration of old traditional houses and convert them into homestays.

Reviewing the Action Plan under Capital Expenditure Budget 2021-2022 of Libraries & Archives, Advisor Ladakh directed the Registering Officer Antiquities to ensure that the proposed Archives Repository and Archives Building at Leh should be as per the standards of the National Archives of India.
Earlier, Secretary Tourism & Culture/ Labour &Employment apprised the Advisor of the progress on various projects of the departments.
