AIFF invites Ladakhi footballer for selection trials of U-19 National Team

Secretary Sports interacts with Sangdup 17 & LFA officials

Leh, March 14: Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Ladakh Ravinder Kumar today interacted with 17-year-old footballer Tsewang Sangdup and congratulated him for achieving the milestone of becoming the first Ladakhi footballer to be invited by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) for selection trials of Under-19 National Team at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. Sangdup plays as a Midfielder and hails from Changthang. Recently Sangdup also played for Santosh Trophy.

Secretary Kumar stated that itโ€™s a matter of pride and honour for Ladakh. He added that this achievement will inspire the youth of Ladakh to make a mark in the game of football, which before the formation of Union Territory of Ladakh, predominantly included players of Jammu and Kashmir only. Secretary, Ravinder Kumar wished Tsewang Sangdup all the best for the future.

Footballer Tsewang Sangdup stated that he is overwhelmed with joy and thanked his Coaches, LFA, and the Administration for helping him realise his dreams and develop his potential. Further, he thanked his family for their support and urged all the parents to support the youth aspiring for a career in sports and added that support of family makes a substantial difference in attaining success in any field.

 

Accompanying Sangdup, Ladakh Football Association (LFA) officials viz. Chairman, LFA, Tashi Kachu; Technical Director, LFA, Harpreet Bedi and Head of Administration and Marketing, LFA Rigzin Deldan expressed their immense pleasure on the news and applauded his hard work and dedication which culminated in the golden chance to get invited to the selection trials. They expressed their gratitude to Secretary Kumar for all the support received from the Administration.

Ladakh Football Association (LFA) is the state governing body of football in Ladakh. It is affiliated with the All India Football Federation, the national governing body. LFA aims to give a platform to the talents of Ladakh and endeavours to develop football in the region.
