Amit inspects EOC, Data Centre site, pressing peddle for early operationalization in Ladakh UT

 

Leh, July 25: Administrative Secretary, Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation & Reconstruction Department Ladakh, Amit Sharma inspected the progress of the working of the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) which was inaugurated by LG Ladakh last month. He also checks the the progress in construction work of the upcoming UT Data Centre which is going to play a key role in taking UT of Ladakh towards future-driven technologies.

 

 

Sharma took an extensive round of EOC along with Deputy Secretary IT, Abdul Majid and the Manager/Staff of the Centre wherein he mentioned that a lot more needs to be done to make the Centre fully functional such as integrating its services with Traffic Department automation, Safe City Projects, setting up of an Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) here for sensor-based disaster warning and mitigation along with information dissemination to the public much before natural calamities take place in future.

 

Amit also reiterated the vision of LG Brig. Dr. B.D Mishra (Retd) and Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal regarding giving the best services to the public of the Union Territory which can be best provisioned by utilizing the existing infrastructure of EOL and creating all 365-day LG Grievance Cell here only.

 

The Secretary also conducted a site visit to UT Data Centre and issued strict directions to CPWD to finish the construction work well within timelines on a war-footing basis as there is a limited working season in the UT and Ladakh is in dire need to have its own Data Centre to host multiple kinds of data which are at present, being hosted in other Data Centres on request basis.

 

He directed his team to conduct weekly assessments of the progress in both these ongoing projects.
