District Police Leh takes cognizance of the assault on 02 policemen; 08 culprits have been identified
On the intervening night of 23rd July and 24th July 2023 at around 0000- 0100hrs, ERSS 112 received a call where the caller stated that a fight has happened between some persons at the KC restaurant at Changspa road and immediate police help was needed. Taking cognizance of the call, two police personnel SI Mohd Jani and HC Ghulam Rasool of PS Leh were deputed to the spot to look into the matter. When they reached the spot, it was found that one person namely Jigmat Dorjey R/O Saboo was beaten by one Stanzin Nyangtak s/o Sonam Angduk r/o Rumbak A/P Skalzangling over some matter. When the police party intervened and warned him not to fight and started recording the incident, the group of 8-10 boys led by Stanzin Nyangtak attacked the two police men with stones and sticks causing them grevious injuries and damaged the police vehicle.
SI Mohd Jani received injuries on right hand and head, while HC Ghulam Rasool received injuries on face and head. While the former is being treated at SNM hospital, the later has been referred to SKIMS Soura for further treatment. All possible assistance including financial, attendant support, and best medical treatment is being given to the brave police officers who sustained injuries while discharging their duties.
Cognizance of the barbaric act has been taken and FIR No. 123/23 u/s 307, 353, 332, 336, 147, 148, 427 IPC has been registered in PS Leh and investigation taken up. During the investigation it was found till now 08 persons have been identified as the culprits who participated in the attack on police officers. The details are:

2) Tashi Angdu s/o Stanzin Tharva r/o Tyager, Nubra A/P Skampari
3) Stanzin Sangdup s/o Sonam Angdu r/o Skidmang A/p Chubi
4) Stanzin Chospel s/o Tsering Tundup r/o Nang
5) Stanzin Otsal s/o Konchok Sangdup r/o Basgo A/P Skalzangling
6) Kunkhep Dorje s/o Tsering Pakto r/o Khalsi A/P Skara Yokma
7) Rinchen Spalzang s/o Sonam Tashi r/o Stok
8) Stanzin Spalbar s/o Stanzin Nurboo r/o Zanskar A/P Skara Yokma
All the accused persons are on run and efforts are on to nab them, there is a possibility that more persons may be involved in the crime. Ladakh police has constituted various teams which have been dispatched in all the probable locations where the accused persons may have taken shelter. It has been learnt that the accused persons are using the silver color I10 with no. JK 10A 1385. Ladakh police appeals general public to share any information on the whereabouts of the accused persons on run, any person giving them shelter after being aware of the facts shall also be liable for punishment as per law. Strict action as per law shall be taken against the culprits who have brutally assaulted the policemen on duty.
