ADC chairs preparatory meeting to conduct mock drill exercise in Kargil

 

Kargil, July 24, 2023: The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani today chaired a preparatory meeting of officers, stakeholders and representatives ahead of a mock drill exercise on earthquake disaster in the district on August 04, 2023.

 

The meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police, Iftikhar Ahmad, ACD Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Principal GDC, Kargil, Amina Qari, CAO, CHO, CEO, SDMs, Tehsildars, Engineers, Deputy CMO, besides other district officers of other concerned departments and concerned officers and officials also attended the meeting.

 

During the meeting, discussions and deliberations were held on different aspects of disaster management keeping in view the geographical location of the district.

 

During the course of the meeting, the ADC said that the mock drill will be conducted in view of any disaster management situation including possible earthquake and keep all the departments ready for any kind of eventuality.

 

The ADC said that mock drill exercise is aimed to make every department ready mode to tackle any kind of disaster situation.

 

During the meeting, ADC Kargil said that the mock drill exercise will be held on August 04 and all the preparations will be made before to make the drill successful.

 

He directed all the departments to make preparations for the mock drill exercise for any of emergency situation like flood or earthquake and make plans accordingly.

 

The ADC also took a review of all the major departments like health, PHE, Education, Police etc. which remain at the forefront of any kind disaster/emergency situation.

 

During the meeting, the identification of five incident sites for various simulations and observers for all sites were thoroughly discussed for the exercise.

 

The establishment of the staging area, incident command post, relief camp, manpower, equipment, disaster management plan of each department etc. were also discussed in detail and the line departments were directed to keep the machinery and other resources ready for the same.

 

The ADC also sought suggestions from officers and officials of different departments about how to tackle any kind of disaster management situation and thoroughly discussed the measures to be taken if needed.

 

ADC directed all the departments to get ready for the drill and said that such initiatives help to know the shortcoming and address the same in a timely manner.

 

The ADC also directed all the departments to make preparations and keep men and machinery in ready more for the exercise.
