Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Iconic Week celebrated in Sankoo Sub Division 

 

KARGIL, OCTOBER 30, 2021: As a part of  Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Iconic Week was celebrated at Mini Stadium Sankoo today which was attended by the district and sub divisional officers, artists and large number of general public.

 

The event was organized by the District Administration Kargil in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Department UT Ladakh during which different departments put up their stalls to impart awareness to the public about various beneficiary-oriented schemes of the government for the upliftment of the people.

Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Sankoo Ghulam Mohiudin Wani was the chief guest on the occasion.

 

In his address the SDM said that PMJAY, MG-NREGA and other innumerable schemes introduced by the government have proved beneficial to the general population. Expressing satisfaction and expressing gratitude over the enthusiasm and participation of people in large numbers in the Iconic Week Celebrations, he appreciated the departments for setting up good number of stalls which are meant for the information of the general public.

 

Special stalls were set up by Handicrafts Department Kargil in which various products including carpet and chair cushions were displayed. The Health Department had also put up their stall depicting several government schemes and services provided to people under the National Health Mission NHM, JSY, JSSK, PMSMA, RCH, Family Planning, NCD Screening, National Leprosy Eradication Programme, RBSK, Adolescent Health and other related aspects.

 

The Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies Sankoo Block had also put up stalls informing people about the availability of different essential commodities which are given to people on discounted rates.

 

Tehsil Office Sankoo organized awareness cum Ladakh Residence Certificate Camp where locals were issued residence certificates on the spot while the Forest Department Sankoo had also put up on display forest trees like mulberry tree and other local forest plants, medicinal plants etc.

 

The Department of Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs Kargil organized a special camp for Aadhar seeding in ration cards, updating and correction of the ration cards etc. People were also given information about benefits of schemes like Non-Priority House Hold (NPHH), Priority House Hold (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) which are provided under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

 

Sheep Husbandry Department Kargil had also put up stall displaying products like Merino Wool, Pashmina Wool, Karakul Grey while the Animal Husbandry Department Kargil had also put on display different kinds of medicines for the information of the general public.People were also informed about the Kissan Credit Card (KCC) scheme in which dairy cattle are provided to people on loan.

 

Department of Agriculture Sankoo Zone had put the major achievements of 2019-20 and 2020-21 and put on display vegetables like chinese cabbage, summer king cabbage, potato, hybrid onion and different kinds of seeds, tool kits, wending cart etc. People were imparted information about different schemes like CSS, SDP, KCC, PM Kissan, provision of chain link fencing for Self Help Groups (SHGs), poly green houses for SHGs, organic manure, hybrid seeds etc.

 

Handloom Department Sankoo Kargil had put on display pashmina shawl, ruffel shawl and other woolen products and ICDS Project Sankoo enlightend people about schemes of ICDS like Anganwadi Services Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, schemes for adolescent girls, Child Protection Scheme and Poshan Abhiyan besides around 25 types of local food products and recipes were also on display for public information under Poshan Abhiyan Scheme.

 

Rural Development Department organized an exhibition cum sale centre under National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and displayed different local food items and arts while the Deputy Chief Education Officer Sankoo had put on display books, uniform, learning kits for school going children.

 

Similarly, Department of Youth Services and Sports also displayed different sports equipments like ice hockey kits and sports kits on display while the Department of Tourism on the occasion also put stalls showcasing snow skiing, snowboard, mountaineering and trekking equipments. People were also enlightened about various schemes available in Tourism Sector for the budding entrepreneurs besides the process for registration of restaurants and other business units at tourist places. Tourism Department also issued registration forms for youth on spot.

 

Meanwhile, Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner Kargil had displayed different schemes for labourers like e-SHRAM. People were also enlightened about various benefits and welfare schemes available for laborers like the social security benefits through e-SHRAM Portal and the process of registration on the portal.

 

Nodal Officer SVEEP Kargil informed the public about Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Roll with reference to 01-01-2022 as the qualifying date.

 

On the occasion, colorful solo and group based cultural programs were presented by folk artists of Ladakh Cultural Academy Kargil and students of different schools which enthralled the audience. A poetic symposium was also presented on the occasion wherein around 10 poets from Sankoo and adjoining areas presented their poems on different themes pertaining to the role of freedom fighters, struggle for independence and the progress achieved by the country in the past 75 years, while students presented speeches on different themes including education and rights of women.

 

Assistant Director Tourism, Aga Syed Toha during the vote of thanks expressed gratitude to all the district and sub divisional officers of different departments and the local community for their cooperation in making the event succesful.
