Bhoti Language Day held at GMDC Zanskar
Kargil, April 01, 2023: Govt. Model Degree College Zanskar today celebrated “Bhoti Language Day” in the college campus to create awareness about the language and its rich cultural heritage among students and faculty members.
The program started with formal welcome address by Prof. Mohd Ishaq. On the occasion, Dr Tashi Lhundup gave a brief introduction about Bhoti language and the struggle of Ladakhi people to include it in the 8th schedule of the Indian Constitution.
Dr Jamphel Sheyan expressed his view on the complex nature of language and culture and how it is important to know one’s native language to have a better understanding of one’s culture and history. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks by Prof. Tsewang Gyaltsen.
