CEC Feroz Khan attends Jashn-e-Nowruz celebration at Hardass

Kargil, March 21, 2023: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended the Jashn-e-Nowruz celebration organized by Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (LAACL), Kargil at Hardass

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Anayat Ali Choudhary, Director School Education, Safdar Ali, Assistant Director Tourism, Aga Syed Toha, Councilor Chuliskambo, Altaf Hussain, Padma Shri Awardee Akhone Asgar Ali Basharat, PRI members, senior citizens beside locals were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEC said that with this event a new season has begun and agricultural activities also start with this celebration. Khan appreciated and congratulated the department for continuing the Jashn-e-Nowruz event which marks the start of spring.

The CEC also urged the people to preserve their ethnic identity. He said the LAHDC Kargil is committed to working for the revival of the ethnic identity. He also lauded the cultural group of Tur Tuk and Balti Association for their contribution in making the event successful.

While responding to the memorandum of requests of Hardass village Sarpanch, the CEC assured to redress all the issues on priority. He also said that LAHDC Kargil is also focusing on One District One Product (ODOP) and informed that apricot is on high demand not only in India but outside the country as well.

During the event, certificates and momentos were distributed to State Awardees, National Awardees, health NGOs and sports persons.

Cultural troops from TurTuk Nubra presented “Razi-Kar” and “rGyal-Kar traditional Balti dances during the event. Meanwhile, locals showcased local ethnic products and also presented cultural folks. The program is an initiative to revive the age-old tradition.

Earlier, the event started with the welcome speech by Deputy Secretary, LAACL, Kargil, Nazir Ahmad. The event ended with a vote of thanks by Cultural Assistant, Tsewang Rigzin.
