CEC Feroz Khan attends sheep show-cum-seminar at Saliskote

Kargil, Feb 16, 2023: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended a daylong sheep show-cum-seminar organized by Sheep Husbandry Department Kargil under National Livestock Mission (NLM) 2022-23 at Loungjuk, Saliskote.

Executive Councilor, Aga Syeda Mehdi Fazili, EC Mubarak Shah Naqvi, EC Er Punchok Tashi, Councilor Taisuru, Syed Abass Razvi, ADC Kagil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-In Wani, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr Niyaz ul Hasnian, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil, DTO, Iftikhar Hussain, Executive Officer, Mohd Saleem, Dr Muhammad Ismail, Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil Kacho Muhammad Ali Khan, Principal Scientist KVK Kargil, Dr Mohammad Mehdi Akhone, Medical Officer Health and Wellness Centre, Trespone, Dr Zakir Hussain, Scientist KVK Kargil, Dr Nazir Hussain, Block Veterinary Officer, TSG Block, Dr Fida Hussain, doctors and experts from other departments, PRI’s, progressive breeders, prominent religious heads from TSG Block besides others attended the program.

While speaking on the occasion, the CEC said the Council is committed to work for the welfare of the people and highlighted the scope in the elite sector and urged the villagers to take benefit of subsidy schemes of the LAHDC Kargil.

He informed about various breeds and urged villagers not to forget past practices of grazing goats and sheep as the village has natural resources like water, greenery and plantation.

The CEC also informed about various schemes under which the beneficiaries get direct benefits and also threw light on the importance of Karakul Crossbreed.

The daylong program was aimed to aware and appreciate the progressive breeders of the TSG Block associated with sheep farming.

Dr Niyaz ul Hasnain briefed the participants about the achievements and schemes of the department and advised them to take benefit from the schemes to increase the livestock population. He said the livestock sector has the potential to push the economy of rural areas.

While talking about the NLM, the District Sheep Husbandry Officer said the department has planned to organize such programs under NLM at every Block in future.

He also advised the breeders, having Karakul breed, to look after the breed in the best possible way so that breed population is increased in the district. He said the department is committed to increase livestock and is providing best quality feed and fodder to beneficiaries.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role of Animal Husbandry Department and how to take care of animals in case of diseases.

Chief Agriculture Officer Kargil, also spoke about integrated and natural farming. He said Ladakh Green House is beneficial for beneficiaries adding that this year they have increased the production of vegetables. He also informed the villagers that different seeds have been procured and stored at respective zones.

Dr Naiz Ahmad Lone, Incharge Pashmina Goat Farm Khangral, highlighted different aspects of sheep farming in the district. He also spoke about prevention and control of disease outbreak among the cattle.

Scientist KVK Kargil, Dr Nazir Hussain detailed about the benefits of organic production. The doctors and experts from other departments also delivered lectures as resource persons in different topics to the participants.

In the next session of the program, the Sheep Show was organized in which a large number of livestock were presented by breeders for selection of award by the judges.

The department awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes in different categories of livestock. In addition to this, 36 consolation prizes were also awarded. The PRI’s thanked the department for their efforts and requested to conduct more such camps in future also. Dr Fida Hussain presented welcome speech and vote of thanks.
