Alternative road in view of damage to Zamstiyang Bridge to be made functional on war footing basis

KARGIL, APRIL 30, 2022:

 

Chairman/Chief Executive Counscilor (CEC) LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan chaired an emergency meeting to chart out an alternative plan for meeting the exigency situation arisen due to the sudden damage to Zamstiyang Bridge.

 

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve, Superintending Engineer (R&B) Kargil, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Kargil, and Tehsildar Kargil.

 

During the meeting, the CEC was informed that the administration took swift cognizance of the matter and stopped traffic over the bridge and is planning to construct a permanent intermediate lane bridge in its place which will take about five months.

 

Discussing alternative options, the road from Kurbathang to Chutuk came up for discussion and the house was informed that a stretch of about 400 meters is required to be connected after which traffic towards Kurbathang Plateau can be routed through it.

 

CEC Kargil directed Superintending Engineer (R&B), ACR & Tehsildar Kargil to conduct an immediate joint site visit and submit a report on its feasibility at the earliest.

 

The ACR was directed to settle any compensation case besides resolve disputes that might hinder in connecting the road stretch. Superintending Engineer (R&B) was directed to start work on the stretch immediately on receipt of the report and make it suitable for plying of traffic at the earliest.
