CEC Feroz Khan reviews progress, achievements of agriculture, allied departments

Expresses satisfaction over works, directs for proper implementation of welfare schemes

Kargil, June 30, 2022: Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan today chaired a meeting to review the progress and achievements of agriculture and allied departments at Council Secretariat.

Executive Councilor Works Aga Abbas Razvi, Executive Councilor Social Welfare Aga Syed Mehdi Fazily, Executive Councilor Health Mohsin Ali, Senior Scientist KVK SKUAST Kargil, Senior Scientist MAR&ES SKUAST Kargil, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Deputy Director Command Area Development, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Soil Conservation Officer besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

The CEC said the meeting was aimed to assess the status of expenditure, works done during the previous financial year and undergoing works so that proper plans are made to draft works under subsidy component and allied sectors without duplicity.

Khan asserted that all works should be carried out in smooth manner and schemes, having direct beneficiary share, must be prioritised and simultaneously maximum achievements under physical and financial expenditure be recorded.

In the meeting, CEC Khan took detailed assessment of works completed during the last financial year and current year of all allied departments of agriculture sector under State Sector, SDP and District Capex.

Regarding works under Agriculture Department, the CEC was informed about distribution of polycarbonate sheets, drip irrigation in drought hit Sodh area, development of organic cluster and involvement of SHGs under the schemes, purchase under machinery equipment, tubular structures, godowns, implementation of Central Sponsored Schemes such as ATMA, MIDH under which mushroom units were established.

He was also appraised about the establishment of Ladakh Green House at Sankoo, Taisuru, Zanskar, Sodh and Chiktan.

Under Sheep Husbandry Department, the CEC Khan was informed that various developmental works and other components were achieved in various sectors.

It was informed that various works like establishment of cattle farms, store rooms and purchase of machinery equipment such as ambulances and works on Nitrogen Plants are undergoing.

Under District Capex works, the meeting was informed that Veterinary Hospital is undergoing and further works on Veterinary Hospital at Chiktan, Zanskar and Shargole are undergoing. It was informed that at Bodh Kharbu, a skill development centre is in making.

Related to Sheep Husbandry Department, the CEC was informed about various works achieved in the previous financial year such as construction of livestock sheds, sheep centres at five centres within the district, pre-fabricated structures at Stakche, Yuljuk and upgradation of staff quarters.

Khan asserted that barren land at Karakul Sheep Farm must be utilized in a proper way. The concerned assured for the necessary redressal and appraised about various works such as machinery purchase, livestock shed at Rangdum and vaccination.

While taking the assessment of works under Cooperatives, the CEC was informed that various vital works were achieved such as Super Bazaar at Sankoo, Fruit Mandi at Baroo, Govt. Consumer Store, Fertilizer Godown, Super Bazaar, Godown at Padum, upgradation of DRC office and various other works were completed while some are in progress.

Under the Horticulture Department, the CEC Khan was informed that works like development of orchards, drip irrigation, distribution of pack house, vermicompost, vermin base were distributed while works on codling moth was also done.

Khan also asked about the distribution and supply of Apricot in national and international markets, to which the concerned informed that a buyer-seller meet was recently held at Leh in which various international buyers had come and interacted with buyers from Kargil.

The CEC stressed on focusing of packaging and processing plants so that better productivity and distribution of apricots is achieved.

The CEC also took a detailed assessment of works under the Command Area and other departments.

During the meeting, Senior Scientist Dr Mehdi Akhone gave various scientific suggestions and interventions in terms of improving quality agriculture works across the district.

The Senior Scientist talked at length on various interventions under organic farming, floriculture, horticulture, caning and packaging of apricot, mulberry and honey.

The CEC expressed satisfaction over the works and directed for proper implementation of welfare schemes and maximum expenditure under all sectors.
