Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil called upon LG Ladakh, Advisor and Commissioner Secretary (PWD)

LG Ladakh appreciates LAHDC Kargil for ensuring 95% expenditure of the Capex Budget and for completion of audit reports of the council since inception.

Chairman/CEC LAHDC Kargil called upon the Honโ€™ble LG Ladakh R K Mathur at the Raj Niwas . During the meet, CEC LAHDC Kargil apprised LG about the impending drought situation in Kargil and requested for making timely preparations so as to avert crisis situation. The CEC urged LG Ladakh to provide additional funds for saving livestock, trees and for making provisions of drinking water for the populace.

 

The CEC also brought to the notice of the LG Ladakh the deteriorating condition of roads in Kargil town owing to the lackadaisical approach of the executing agency NHIDCL and stated that there is no accountability of works executed by the agency. He urged LG Ladakh to disengage the services of NHIDCL and to assign the same task to the Public Works Department whose accountability can be easily fixed at the district level and monitoring can be easily done. He also requested the LG Ladakh to hand over all other projects undertaken by the NHIDCL to other executing agencies\ especially those pertaining to development of educational infrastructure like residential hostels in District Kargil.

 

While talking about the progress of developmental works in the district the CEC informed LG Ladakh that LAHDC Kargil have successfully incurred expenditure of over 95% of the District Capex Budget in the financial year 2021-22. Further elaborating, he brought forth the requirement to meet compensations of land, trees etc falling in line of developmental works. He stated that owing to the new guidelines of compensation LAHDC Kargil is not in position to pay four times the market rate of lands and therefore requested LG Ladakh for additional funding to meet the same.

 

LG Ladakh appreciated the efforts put in by LAHDC Kargil to meet the expenditure targets and said that the UT Administration would consider increasing the District Capex Budget in the times to come.

 

Besides, various other issues also came up for discussion. Detailed deliberations took place and Honโ€™ble LG assured to consider the issues at an earliest. He assured that the matters have been taken cognizance of and shall be dealt with on priority level.

 

LG Ladakh also appreciated the fact the LAHDC Kargil has completed the audit reports of the Council right from the inception and have submitted the same to the CAG. He stated that it goes on to show the commitment of LAHDC Kargil to serve the people of Kargil in a fair and transparent manner.

 

Later, CEC Kargil also met Advisor to Honโ€™ble LG and Commissioner Secretary (PWD) UT Ladakh and discussed a range of issues.
