Consultant (ME & IRS), NDMA, Maj. Gen. Sudhir Bahl chairs review meeting ahead of mock drill exercise on earthquake disaster
KARGIL, SEPTEMBER 06, 2022:
Maj. Gen. Sudhir Bahl (Retd), Consultant (ME & IRS), NDMA, Government of India, today chaired a joint virtual meeting of Leh and Kargil districts to review arrangements ahead of Table Top Exercise (TTE) on earthquake disaster to be held in both districts on September 08.
Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil Mohi-ud-Din Wani, Superintending Engineer R&B Abdul Mutalib, Superintending Engineer Hydraulics Maqbool Hussain, ACD Ghulam Mohammad, CMO, CEO, and others attended the meeting at Conference Hall Baroo, Kargil.
It was informed that the mock exercise for earthquake will be held in Kargil district on September 08 where different departments will exercise a mock drill to prepare themselves for emergency disaster situations.
Maj. Gen. Sudhir Bahl enquired about arrangements being made for the upcoming mock exercise aimed to make every department in ready mode and their coordination with other stakeholders in order to tackle any kind of disaster situation.
The ADC gave a detailed PowerPoint presentation on resources available with the district Administration like manpower and machinery, medical staffs and equipment, shelter etc.
The ADC also briefed about presentations for the mock exercise on earthquakes disaster. He further informed about the nomination of nodal officers and observers for the mock exercise.
The Maj. Gen. informed that the District Disaster Management Authority with other departments will jointly act mock in five situations viz school, government office, residential area, hospital and industry/ bridge/ dam/ mall and market area.
The mock exercise is aimed to evaluate warning systems, alert protocols, Emergency Operation Center functioning and communications, ability to build situation awareness and allocate resources, identification and aggregation of responders, ability to suitably select sites for Incident Response System (IRS) facilities and activate them, composition of Incident Response Team (IRT), response, search and rescue effort, evacuation/casualty evacuation, integration of all types of responders, hospitals cope with casualties, surge capacity, emergency, re-build, check disaster management reserves held by each Department, Emergency Support Function (ESF) form, inter-departmental teams/groups/task forces including for response, restoration and ability to receive assistance and aid through road and air.
