DC chairs meeting to discuss strategies for prevention of Lumpy Skin Disease in Leh

Leh, Aug 27: Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a meeting to discuss the strategies for the prevention of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) in Leh district.


Several preventive measures were discussed in detail in the meeting to prevent the outbreak of LSD in the district. DC Leh directed the concern departments to organise awareness camps about the preventive measures of LSD at farm camps, rural areas and dairy belts of the district where cattle are raised in large numbers. He further instructed the Information Department to issue advisories of the departments on social media platforms as well on local radio and television.
The police department and other departments were instructed to ensure restrictions on the movement and transportation of cattle from outside of the district. To date, Ladakh is free from Lumpy Skin Disease and not a single case has been reported from within the district.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Leh; District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh; District Panchayat Officer, Leh; Assistant Director, FCS&CA, Leh and Disease Investigation Officer, AHD, Leh.
