GDC Nubra organises interactive session

Leh, August, 27: An interactive session was held at GDC Nubra today. Dr Sonam Wangchuk founder Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation and Aaron Dana, Ladakh Art and Media Organisation along with the research scholars and team briefed about the ongoing project ‘Mapping Cultural and Heritage of Nubra’.

Dr. Stanzin Namgail welcomed the guests and encouraged such interactive sessions and events in the college in future as well. He also extends gratitude to the team for their visit to the college and sharing their experiences & knowledge with the college students.

Dr. Sonam Wangchuk briefed about their project, how it is important to preserve and document the important cultural and heritage sites in the Siachen belt of Nubra. He also encouraged the students to take part in documenting and contributing various stories about their adjoining areas. He also shared that after a weeklong workshop the young research scholars will be ready to venture into different villages or hamlets in the Siachen belt to document both tangible and intangible cultural and heritage sites in the valley. He further informed that they are coming up with two books, one will be an Inventory Book and another will be a Workbook with four volumes.

During the interactive session scholars, faculties and students put forward queries and also shared different stories related to the theme.
