DC Kargil visits flood-affected areas of Sankoo Sub-Division

Kargil, July 22, 2023: Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Shrikant Suse today visited several flood-hit areas of Sankoo Sub-Division and took stock of the situation and damage caused by flash floods besides measures being taken by the administration for relief and rehabilitation.

 

Councillor Barsoo, BDCs of Sankoo and Barsoo along with team officers including SE, PWD, Kargil, Mutalib Hussain, Incharge SDM Sankoo, ACD Kargil, Exen PHE Kargil, Exen SVD Sankoo, BDC Barsoo, BDO Barsoo, AEE Irrigation, ICPP Sankoo, Naib Tehsildar Sankoo, AEE, JEs, other concerned officials of the district, Sarpanchs, Panchs and locals of various villages accompanied the DC Kargil.

 

The DC conducted an extensive tour of flood-affected villages and took a first-hand appraisal of the situation, the extent of damages and ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures initiated by district administration.

 

During visit to Nakpocho village and took stock of the damaged flood control infrastructure and directed the concerned officer of flood control division for immediate repair in order to prevent further damages to nearby fields.

 

During the visit to flash flood affected spots of Karchakhar, locals presented their issues and requested for an immediate restoration of irrigation kuls and water supply. DC directed RDD and PHE departments for assessment of damages and temporary restoration works.

 

DC Kargil also visited site of damaged culvert ahead of Patto village and interacted with villagers. He directed PMGSY officials to ensure restoration damaged road and culvert on priority. On the occasion, DC Kargil said the restoration work on minor irrigation canal and Nallah trailing should be done immediately. He instructed the concerned officials for visit to vulnerable spots so that damages would be minimised.

 

On the direction of DC Shrikant, SDM Sankoo in presence of ACD Kargil and the team of officials visited various flood-hit spots that include main road from Thalla to Thalla Broq, footbridge Bajan Bartoo, irrigation canal at Chiber, irrigation canal at Rulpo and Shambit, Itchu main road, link road at Timatapse, agriculture field at Shakthang, irrigation canal at Shakthang, Bayur kul, Mayur kul, Throng kul, Groung kul constructed by irrigation department at Shakthang, Shakthang kul at balti Stakpa, Kurbanlangar Kul at Stakpa, footbridge at Sorichan Shakthang Stakpa, footbridge at Kota Sankoo and various other spots at Yokma Shatoo and other places.

 

SDM instructed the concerned officers to speed up the assessment of damage in coordination with PRI members and ensure preparation of restoration plan at the earliest.

 

Similarly On the directions of DC, ADC Kargil visited various flash flood affected areas of Drass sub-division to review ongoing restoration works. SDM Shakar Chiktan also visited damaged road sites in the sub-divison. Necessary restoration works have been carried out at Khangral to Stakchey road and at Samrah Lungma.

 

District administration has also issued order for constitution of sub-divisional damages assessment committees comprising all concerned departments headed by SDMs wherein all SDMs have been directed to submit damage assessment reports to properties within a week.
