DC Santosh Sukhadeve kick starts 1st UT Ladakh Athletics Championship 2021
KARGIL, OCTOBER 18, 2021: Deputy Commissioner and CEO,LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve kick started 2 day long first UT Ladakh Athletics Championship, 2021 at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium Biamathang here today.
The championship has been organized by the District Kargil Athletics Association.
As per the organizers, around 16 schools from all over Ladakh are participating in the championship where different sports activities like 100-meter race, 200-meter race, long jump, high jump and juvenile throw will be held during the 2 days long event.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Santosh Sukhadeve shared his own experiences with sports and athletics as a lesson to the young athletes. He urged the athletes not to take sports activities as a compulsion but as a subject in school which is a must for their overall development. He maintained that Ladakh has ample scope for athletics due to its topography which has not yet been explored to its fullest, adding he said that the UT Administration is serious about development of sports infrastructure in Ladakh.
While making mention of other infrastructural development works for sports in the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that synthetic track and other necessary equipments will be developed at the Sports Authority of India campus at Kurbathang.
The DC also witnessed the 100 meter long race in which athletes from different schools took part.
