Director RDD Ladakh reviews implementation of RDD works in Kargil

KARGIL, OCTOBER 21, 2021: Director Rural Development Department (RDD) Ladakh Tahir Hussain Zubdavi convened a meeting to take stock of the various projects and works being executed under different schemes under the Rural Development sector in the district at Conference Hall Baroo here today.

Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Ghulam Muhammad, Executive Engineer REW Gulzar Hussain Munshi, District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Padma Angmo, Block Development Officers (BDOs), BDC Chairpersons, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions besides other concerned officers were present during the meeting.

During the course of the meeting, the Director RDD took stock of the physical and financial progress achieved in case of works under different schemes including 14th Finance, SDP, State Sector, PMAY (G), MGNREGA, SBM (G), Panchayat Developmental activities, strengthening of Panchayats through the LAHDC Kargil and other related schemes.

ACD Ghulam Muhammad gave a detailed presentation on progress achieved on various projects under MGNREGA, PMAY-G, SDP, State Sector, SDP (New) BDC Plan, NRLM, Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin, Integrated Watershed Management Programme I, II, and III and other schemes. He informed that under various schemes, the Rural Development Department has constructed public libraries, public sarai, BDC offices, BDO offices, panchayat ghars, public latrines and sanitation sites, footpaths and other infrastructure.

The Director instructed the concerned officers to work in tandem and close coordination with the public representatives, PRI members and villagers to ensure effective implementation of the welfare schemes on ground for benefit of the general population. He also stressed on creation of durable assets while strictly adhering to quality parameters.

Director Tahir Zubdavi gave a detailed presentation on share of budget for the RDD in different budget plans in UT Ladakh. He also emphasized on growing of livestock breeder locally and discussed scope for production in fisheries, apples, poultry, and other local products that would get markets easily in the area because of high tourist influx. He further informed that Rs 3 lakhs per panchayat has been allocated for minor works while for each block Rs 20 lakhs has been allocated.

The Director further informed that for proper management and segregation of waste materials,11 more vehicles are also being procured for Leh and Kargil districts that will help in ensuring cleanliness in rural areas.

The BDC Chairpersons and Sarpanches also appraised the Director regarding various issues and concerns of their areas.

Delivering the vote of thanks Chairperson Panchayat Coordination Committee Kargil Issa Ali thanked the Director for conducting the meeting and patiently listening to their issues and concerns. He further demanded the Director to release funds to clear the liabilities of the MGNREGA works of the last financial year.

The Director informed that Rs 9 crores has already been allocated to clear the liabilities which will be cleared soon.
