Kargil, October 3, 2026: Director Sheep Husbandry Department, Union Territory of Ladakh, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain today chaired a review meeting of the Sheep Husbandry Department of Kargil and Drass districts at the Conference Hall of the Sheep Husbandry Department Complex Baroo.
The meeting was attended by DSHO Kargil Dr. Mohd Sadiq and DSHO Drass Dr. Zakir Hussain along with all other concerned officials of the department.
The meeting focused on reviewing the overall technical and financial progress of various ongoing schemes and programmes being implemented by the Sheep Husbandry Department in Kargil and Drass districts.
Detailed discussions were held on the progress of works under District Capex, Special Development Package (SDP) and other departmental programmes. The officers briefed the Director regarding the physical and financial progress of ongoing works, expenditure status, implementation issues and requirements for their timely completion.
The Director directed all concerned officers to cross-check and verify the status of all ongoing works, ensure proper monitoring at the field level and expedite the pace of execution. He stressed upon the timely utilization and expenditure of the released budget and directed the officers to ensure that the funds may be utilized on time.
Dr. Iftikhar Hussain directed the officers to regularly monitor the progress of works and ensure that all projects are completed within the stipulated timelines and as per approved DPRs and prescribed quality standards.
The Director also reviewed the functioning of departmental Farms, field establishments and livestock-related activities in both districts and took feedback from the concerned officers regarding various technical and administrative issues.
He called upon all officers and staff to maintain punctuality, accountability and efficiency in the discharge of their duties and to ensure that the benefits of departmental schemes and programmes reach livestock farmers and beneficiaries in a timely manner.
