District Administration Kargil takes up restoration works at Nakpochoo Nallah, Sankoo
Kargil, July 23, 2023: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, comprehensive measures have been taken up by District Administration at Nakpochoo Nallah, Sankoo.
On Saturday night, on receiving report about overflowing of nallah and subsequent flowing of excess water in nearby areas, the restoration works at Nakpochoo Nallah has been taken up immediately on war-footing basis.
Nearby three households were shifted to safer locations. Meanwhile, DDMA Kargil has deployed three JCBs and one excavator on the spot and nallah trailing works are going on. Additionally, one more excavator is being deployed to supplement the efforts. Stone walls are also being put at vulnerable spots to prevent further damage.
SDM Sankoo visited spot to monitor restoration works. Directions have been given to Revenue Department to prepare damage assessment reports within two days and temporary restoration of damaged kuls.
The Flood Control Unit, Sankoo including the concerned Naib Tehsildar, Mechanical Department/SVD/RDD are at work and are doing their best for the restoration.
In the wake recent incidences, flash floods and overflowing of nallahs, general public is appealed to remain alert and vigilant.
