District Police Leh arrested three drug peddlers and recovered 160 grams of Charas.

12th July: In its relentless pursuit to combat the scourge of drug abuse in society, the District Police Leh achieved another significant breakthrough by arresting three individuals involved in drug peddling and recovering contraband substances from their possession.

 

On the evening of 10th July 2023, a police party from Police Post Housing Colony, Leh acting on reliable information, raided and searched the residence of one Sunny Kumar S/O Sarwan Singh a resident of Chemday at Cooperative Cold Storage, Agling Leh. During the search, the police party recovered 160 grams of charas-like substance. Accordingly, case FIR No 112/2023 was registered at Police Station Leh, under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

During interrogation and evaluation of other technical evidences, it was discovered that, two other persons namely Jigmat Gyalpo S/O Nawang Rigzin R/O Shara, Leh and Jigmat Otzer S/O Dorjay Namgyal R/O Liker, Leh are also involved in the crime as they would also sell the narcotics along with the accused. Accordingly legal action against them under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been initiated.

 

District Police Leh is consistently making efforts to apprehend the peddlers involved in drug cartels.
