EC Tashi chairs meeting to propose date for Zanskar Festival 2023

Kargil, March 24, 2023:

Executive Councilor, Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, LAHDC, Kargil Er. Punchok Tashi today chaired a meeting to propose a tentative date for the 8th edition of Ladakh Zanskar Festival 2023 and to discuss various issues to make the festival successful.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art Culture and Languages (LAACL), Kargil Nazir Hussain and Assistant Director Tourism Kargil, Syeed Toha Aga besides other concerned were present in the meeting.

The EC welcomed all the participants and advised to work collectively to set an example and model of the festival as LG Ladakh shall be requested to grace the festival as chief guest

During the meeting, a discussion was held on past practices especially last year’s event that helped to promote culture of Zanskar at national and international level. Besides the cultural exchanges within UT and neighboring State Lahoul Spiti district were appreciated.

Deputy Secretary LAACL Kargil suggested that the festival date shouldn’t clash with the month of Moharram and proposed it to be conducted in the first week of July 2023.

He said focus shall be on publicity in the entire country so that maximum tourists are attracted towards Zanskar, particularly from Manali side.

Banners shall also be erected in Mall road Manali and Leh main Market like the previous year so that tourist could divert towards Zanskar.
