Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission Signs MoU with Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty, Telangana 

Leh, March 25: In a significant development the Ladakh Rural Livelihood Mission (LRLM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP). The MoU was exchanged between Director, Rural Development Department, Ladakh, Tahir Hussain and Director, SERP, Y.N. Reddy in the presence of Advisor Ladakh, Umang Narula and Secretary RDD, Saugat Biswas at the Civil Secretariat, Leh.

On the occasion of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, Advisor Narula expressed his delight and spoke about the importance of the partnership between LRLM and SERP. He highlighted that this collaboration will provide crucial support and strengthen the capacity of LRLM, and acknowledged the challenging work that SERP undertakes in building social infrastructure and promoting livelihoods. Advisor Narula expressed his confidence that the successful model of SERP’s work in Telangana can be replicated in Ladakh, which will immensely benefit the people of the region. He emphasized the importance of rural development, livelihood promotion, and self-help groups in the overall development of the region and stressed the need for capacity building, skill improvement, networking, and credit linkages. Advisor Narula hoped that SERP will share their expertise and experience with LRLM and wished them all the best for their endeavours in Ladakh.

It is worth mentioning that SERP will provide support to LRLM in the mobilisation of target HHs into Self Help Groups, formation of new SHGs; Strengthening of existing SHGs by providing training on 5 sutra; revival of default/defunct SHGs; identification of SHG book keepers and training; training on micro credit plan preparation process; training on financial inclusion (Account opening, credit linkages, Access to RF & CIF etc.,); orientation on SHG federation concept and management; formation of SHG federation; identification of active women/nurturing, and introduction of social activities.
