“Good Governance Week” celebrations begin in Zanskar

Kargil, Dec 18, 2022: In view of the forthcoming Losar Festival, “Good Governance Week” under the theme “Sushasan Sapta-Prashan Gaon Ki Aur” was celebrated on Saturday in Zanskar Sub Division.

On the first day, the celebrations started at Raru village of Lungnak Block where all the heads of departments of the subdivision attended the inaugural program.

Addressing the gathering, Block Development Officer Lungnak, informed the gathering about the celebration of the program and also explained its importance.

On the occasion, Station House Officer Zanskar informed about violence against women and other crimes.

Block Medical Officer apprised about the issues and precautions of Covid-19 and also appealed to people to take the booster dose of Covid-19 vaccination.

Zonal Officer and Child Development Project Officer, ICDS also addressed the gathering. Officials of Sheep and Animal Husbandry Department appealed to the general public to increase cattle and other domestic animals.

SDM Zanskar Sonam Dorjay informed in detail about natural disasters like earthquakes, flash floods, snow avalanches and fire incidents and appealed to people to take precautions.

A medical camp and veterinary medical camp also held during the function. Covid-19 booster doses were also available during the camp. Aadhaar card and Golden card camp were also held during the program.

Land compensation by 126RCC GREF worth Rs 15 lakh was also disbursed among 22 beneficiaries.

A village disaster management committee was also framed in Raru village. Army experts demonstrated and provided training to the committee members and the public about how to use fire extinguish and other measures.
