Health Dept organises World Blood Donors Day at SNM,Hospital Leh

Leh, June 14: World Blood Donors Day was observed by the Health Department at Sonam Nurboo Memorial Hospital, Leh with the theme ‘Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives’. Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson was the chief guest.

 

During the event, CEC Gyalson appreciated and thanked all the blood donors, volunteers and doctors for their noble sentiment and selfless human services. He further added those blood donors are the life savers. He also assured to provide all necessary support to the blood donor organisations in their noble cause.

Earlier, Chief Medical Officer, Leh, Dr Nurzin Angmo in her welcome speech threw light on the importance of World Blood Donors Day. She added that blood donor day is celebrated in order to extend support to blood transfusion services.

 

Similarly, Pathologist and Incharge Blood Bank, SNM Hospital, Dr Sonam Angmo raised awareness about the life-saving noble act and extended her gratitude to the blood donor organisations and other non-governmental organisations(NGOs).

 

Spokesperson of Ladakh Blood Donors Association, UT Ladakh, Tsewang Rigzin and Alamdar Health Service, Azgar Ali spoke on the importance of blood donation and also urged the administration to support in order to build blood bank system and increase collection.

 

On the occasion, CEC Gyalson also donated blood to show his commitment and solidarity with the donors. Further, he felicitated the blood donors as well.

 

Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Dr Tsewang Chorol delivered the vote of thanks.

 

The programme was attended by Chief Medical Officer, Leh, Dr Nurzin Angmo; Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital, Leh, Dr Tsewang Chorol; Pathologist and Incharge Blood Bank, SNM Hospital, Dr Sonam Angmo; Spokesperson of Ladakh Blood Donors Association UT, Ladakh, Tsewang Rigzin; Representatives from Alamdar Health Service, Imtiyaz Ali, Azgar Ali and other volunteers and donors.
