The Union Territory of Ladakh has marked a historic milestone in its sporting journey as the Ladakh Archery Team delivered an impressive performance at the Senior Archery National Championships held in Hyderabad. Competing against teams from 31 states and union territories, the Ladakh team showcased exceptional skill, determination, and resilience on the national stage.
Demonstrating remarkable consistency, the team successfully qualified for the Round of 16 and secured a commendable victory against Punjab. Advancing further, Ladakh faced a tough challenge in the quarterfinals against Andhra Pradesh, where the match concluded in a nail-biting finish. Despite a narrow defeat by just two points, the team’s performance stood out as one of the most memorable moments of the championship.
This outstanding effort earned Ladakh a historic qualification for the upcoming National Games, making it one of the most significant achievements in the region’s modern sports history.
The Ladakh team comprised Hussain Phokar, Nurboo Phyang, Nubu Thiksay, and Ali Sanku, whose collective effort and dedication brought pride to the entire region.
General Secretary of the Archery Association of Ladakh, Lobzang Sherab, lauded the athletes for their commitment and discipline. He expressed confidence that this landmark achievement would inspire more youth across Ladakh to pursue excellence in modern archery and competitive sports.
Meanwhile, Joint Director, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the team. He emphasized that the newly formed Union Territory is steadily making its mark on India’s sports map, with archery emerging as one of the disciplines where Ladakh holds immense promise.
The achievement has generated widespread pride among the people of Ladakh and signals a new chapter in the growth and development of sports in the region.
