Ladakh medical student demands merit based selection in MDS NEET PG 2023

KARGIL, AUGUST 10: JKBOPEE is conducting counselling for MDS NEET PG 2023. As Ladakh is getting 4% of total seats in JK dental colleges which is equivalent to 1 seat for Ladakh.

The Issue is that this 1 seat is given to Leh and Kargil on alternate years from this year. Whereas previously it was based on merit basis among Ladakhi candidates.

Sources said in 2023 this 1 seat will be given to candidates of Leh and in 2024 will be given to Kargil. “ This way the deserving candidates in not getting seats “ a doctor from Kargil quoted .

A doctor from Kargil in a conversation with Ladakh Times said that this year one doctor from leh is higher in merit but he is not getting seat just because BOPEE has reserved this only one seat for Kargil.

He further demanded the higher authorities that this only 1 seat of MDS for Ladakh should be given on merit basis.

“If the rule persist than according to them this year only candidate from Leh should have sit for exam and next year candidate from Leh
Kargil should sit for exam”. “ He said”.

Further urged the UT Ladakh administration for look in the matter.
