LAHDC Kargil Declares Winter Vacation for Schools and Anganwadi Centres

Kargil, December 13, 2025:

The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, through the Office of the Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, has officially declared winter vacation for all Government and recognized private schools, as well as Anganwadi Centres in District Kargil.

As per the order issued, the winter vacation will be observed from 15th December 2025 to 10th March 2026. The decision was taken following recommendations of the Chief Education Officer, Kargil and the District Programme Officer, ICDS Kargil, and based on deliberations held during a meeting chaired by the Hon’ble Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Kargil on 13th December 2025, in the presence of Hon’ble Executive Councillors.

According to the order, all Government and recognized private schools and Anganwadi Centres in the district shall remain closed during the said period. However, Classes 10th and 12th are exempted from this vacation, as remedial classes for these students are currently in progress.

The order has been issued by Shri Rakesh Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner/Chief Executive Officer, LAHDC Kargil, and circulated to all concerned departments and authorities for information and necessary action.

The announcement comes in view of the harsh winter conditions in the region, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, teachers, and Anganwadi workers.
