MP Ladakh visits Kargil

Takes stock of patient care facilities at DHK, Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kargil

Stresses for proper monitoring, necessary care, medication of home isolated patients

Member Parliament (MP) Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal during his 5 days tour of Kargil District today visited the District Hospital Kargil (DHK), Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital and RTPCR Laboratory Kargil.

Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan, Councillor Stanzin Lakpa, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil, Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, Nodal Officer Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital Kargil Dr Abdul Jalil, other concerned officers besides the medical practitioners of District Hospital Kargil were present on the occasion.

During his visit to the District Hospital Kargil, the MP visited the Causality Block, OPD and other sections of the hospital and took stock of the status of availability of patient care facilities, necessary infrastructure, logistics and staff strength.

Underlining the fact that routine work of District Hospital Kargil should not get suffered due to the COVID-19, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal assured that all sort of help and assistance will be provided to the health sector in the district as and when required.

Later, the MP visited the Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital at Kurbathang including the RTPCR Lab, oxygen plant and other blocks, wings of the hospital and interacted with the doctors, paramedical staff and technicians.

The MP inquired from the concerned officers about the status of the availability of beds, ventilators, oxygen supply, and life saving medicines, central heating system and other necessary logistics. He directed that apart from taking due care of the patients at the COVID-19 Hospital, the home isolated patients should also be strictly monitored and given necessary care and medication as and when required.

Meanwhile, the concerned officers informed the MP Ladakh that the Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital presently has a capacity to cater to 180 patients adding that the necessary infrastructure for 250 beds will be established at the hospital within a week’s time.

On the occasion, the Executive Councilor for Health Muhammad Ali Chandan and CMO Kargil urged the MP Ladakh to enhance the amount of DPR for completion of the ongoing works of the Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital as the amount is exceeding the allotted amount of 45 crores, adding by doing so the infrastructure of the hospital will get further strengthened.

The MP assured to look into the matter and take necessary measures in due course of time.

Meanwhile, regarding the oxygen supply at the COVID-19 Hospital, MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal was informed that presently the hospital has the capacity to supply 1000 litres of oxygen per minute through its two 500 LPM capacity oxygen plants. He was further informed that necessary infrastructure and logistics have also been enabled to supply oxygen to the required wards of the hospital building.

The officers concerned further informed the MP that there is no dearth of necessary logistics like oxygen, beds, medicines and testing, manpower like Lab Technicians, Multipurpose Health Workers and Nurses and the COVID-19 Hospital is ready to deal with any sort of exigency.

MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal expressed satisfaction over the availability of necessary infrastructure, manpower and other facilities provided at the Dedicated COVID-19 Hospital.

The MP hailed the untiring efforts of the Health Care Workers for their round the clock services during the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed gratitude to the staff and medical practitioners for their dedicated services to curb the pandemic in Kargil district.

The MP Ladakh also interacted with police personnel deployed at different nakas of Kargil town and adjoining areas and thanked them for their valour and continued public services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
