National Voters’ Day 2023 celebrated in Kargil

Kargil, Jan 25, 2023:

District Election Office Kargil today observed the 13th National Voter’ Day 2023 under the theme ‘Nothing Like Voting, I Vote for Sure’’ at Khree Sultan Cho Sports Stadium, Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Santosh Sukhadeve, who is also District Election Officer (DEO), was the chief guest, Deputy Election Officer, Kargil, Khanzada Mohd Usman, besides other District Officers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Kargil said being a citizen of the world’s largest democracy, an individual voter plays a crucial role in keeping the vibrant democracy functional in its true sense.

Terming youth as the future ambassadors of the country, he stressed youth to come forward and participate in the electoral process. He said youth who are informed about right political choices can take the country to new heights.

DC Kargil said free and fair election is the strength of Indian democracy adding that youth of the country have huge responsibility to carry forward this rich legacy.

DC Santosh hailed the efforts of the District Election Office, Kargil and other allied departments for observing the National Voter’ Day amid heavy snowfall. He also thanked all the District Officers, participants and players for making the event successful.

Earlier, the event started with a pledge-taking ceremony of the NVD which was headed by the Deputy Election Officer, Kargil.

A friendly and symbolic Ice Hockey match was also played between DC 11 and SP 11 Kargil that was meant to impart the message of participation of youth in Democracy. The match was won by DC 11 with one goal.

Meanwhile, prizes were distributed among the position holders who participated in essay and painting, an online competition organized by District Election Office, Kargil aiming to spread awareness about importance of voting rights and elections.
