New India Literacy Program held in Zanskar

Kargil April 06, 2023: Education Department Zanskar today organized β€œNew India Literacy Environment building program” for Panchayati Raj Institution members and senior citizens of Zanskar Sub Division at tourist Dak Bunglow, Padum.

Incharge Sub Divisional Magistrate Zanskar was present as chief guest and Zonal Education Officer Zanskar was the guest of honor on the occasion.

The program was attended by Chairman Block Development Council Zanskar Block, President Zanskar Buddhist Association, president all Lambardar Association, Sarpanches, Panches, Ama Tsogspas, village members, representatives of Gonpa and Muslim associations.

Zonal Education Planning Officer welcomed the chief guest, other guests and the gathering and also introduced them about the program.

While addressing the gathering, the ZEO informed the 33 villages coordinators are already constituted for survey to establishment of literacy centre.

He also appealed the Sarpanch, Lambarder, Ama Tsogspa and other village representatives to collaborate with the coordinators to identify volunteers to engage for teaching for the illiterate persons in their respective villages and also fix the timing at village level.

The coordinators will submit their report by April 11 and classes will be started from April 12. It was also disclosed that 33 centers for Zanskar have been submitted to higher authorities and rest will submit after submitting the reports of all coordinators.

A discussion regarding the program session was also held and during which various issues were raised by the participants.

The participants appreciated Government of India and Education Department for introducing such classes for adult citizens in this modern era. They also requested to sanction honorarium for the volunteers.

While addressing the gathering, the chief guest appealed PRI members and village representatives to coordinate with the Education Department to find volunteers for their villages.

He also appealed the village representatives to motivate the adults to join the classes as education is necessary for all in this digital era, as the Prime Minister of India launched this program all over India to make the country digital.
