Leh, July 10: Commissioner/Secretary, Tourism and Culture, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan chaired a meeting regarding arrangement for β€œLadakh Nomadic Festival, 2023” to be held on 15th and 16th July, 2023 at Hanley, Changthang.
The Commissioner/Secretary highlighted the significance of the 3rd Edition of the Ladakh Nomadic Festival which is expected to see a galaxy of dignitaries, public representatives from both Leh and Kargil districts besides a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
With the aim to hold a smooth and successful event, the Commissioner/Secretary gave directions to concerned departments viz, DC/CEO, LAHDC, Leh; Health; Rural Development; Wildlife; NIC; Ladakh Police; and others to expedite works in a coordinated manner.
Director(Health), Ladakh was directed to ensure adequate medical facilities considering the remoteness and geographical/climatic conditions of Hanley, Changthang.
Pertaining to logistical arrangements, the Commissioner / Secretary urged 14 Corps, HIMANK (BRO) and ITBP to facilitate logistical requirements for smooth organization of the event at Hanle. The 14 Corps has been requested to respond to the request made by LAHDC, Leh at the earliest.
Detailed deliberations were held regarding setting up of pavilions, stay arrangements, exhibition stalls, parking, public conveniences, drinking water facility, internet connectivity/communication facility, electricity, audio facility, sanitation, maintenance of law and order, traffic management etc.
Director, Tourism was directed to coordinate with the representatives of ALTOA and ALHAGHA for establishment of tents for tourists at the venue. Further, it was directed to operationalise the Tourism Department’s telescope for the festival duration, while the Wildlife Department’s astronomical telescopes at Community Centers/homestays shall be made available for visiting dignitaries and tourists.
Exhibition/sales of local food and handicrafts/handloom products will also be a part of the festival.
The Commissioner/Secretary urged upon all concerned to make the event a grand success considering the importance of this event at the national & international level.
Director, Tourism Department, Ladakh; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Leh; Additional District Development Commissioner/Assistant Development Commissioner, Leh; Joint Director, Headquarter, Project Himank, Leh; SO1 Works, Project Himank, Leh; Deputy Secretary, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh/Kargil and Representative, 70 Brigade, Headquarters 14 Corps and other concerned officials attended the meeting.
