Power Supply Likely to Be Affected Across UT Ladakh on November 4 Due to Emergency Shutdown of Transmission Line

POWERGRID has informed that an emergency shutdown of the 220 kV Alusteng–Drass Transmission Line is required on 04.11.2026 (Wednesday), from 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, for carrying out essential works.

Consequently, power supply across UT Ladakh is likely to be affected during the aforementioned shutdown period.

To minimise the inconvenience to consumers, the 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo HEP and 44 MW Chutak HEP will be operated in isolated (off-grid) mode to cater to the daytime electricity demand of the UT. However, as the power stations will be operating independently of the grid, power

supply may remain unstable, and intermittent disruptions may occur due to load fluctuations and other operational constraints.

In view of the above, the general public is requested to kindly bear with the inconvenience and extend their cooperation during the shutdown period.
