RD&PRD Ladakh organizes awareness program on Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) at Kaksar

KARGIL, AUGUST 14, 2022:

Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department (RD&PRD), Ladakh today organized an awareness program on Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) at Panchayat Halqa Kaksar.

Director RD&PRD Ladakh Tahir Hussain Zubdavi, Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kargil Ghulam Mohammad, District Panchayat Officer (DPO) Kargil Padma Angmo, Block Development Officer Kargil Sameena Khatoon, Sarpanch Kaksar Mohd Hussain, other officers and officials of RD&PRD, PRI members, local villagers were present on the occasion.

During the awareness program, speakers including the director, ACD Kargil and DPO Kargil enlightened the villagers about Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) Phase-II and the importance of solid waste management for ensuring cleanliness and hygiene for healthy living.

The Director RD&PRD, ACD Kargil and DPO Kargil urged the villagers to play a proactive role in coordinating with the department in the smooth and successful implementation of various government schemes on the ground for benefit of the rural population.

The speakers also urged the villagers to abstain from burning domestic and household waste. They informed that the waste vehicle will visit the village once a week to transport the waste to segregation sites.

The officials urged the villagers to extend full cooperation from their side for the successful implementation of solid waste management initiatives in their area.

Later, the director RD&PRD distributed dust bins to the villagers for primary collection of waste from their homes.

Sarpanch Kaksar Mohammad Hussain presented vote of thanks while District Coordinator Solid Waste Management Mohammad Toha conducted the program proceedings.

Earlier, RD&PRD Ladakh organized a Silent March to mark the partition horrors remembrance day at Kaksar village under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Director RD&PRD, ACD, DPO, BDO, Sarpanch, VLW along with school students and villagers participated in the silent March.
