Schools to reopen in Kargil by March 15, 2024 after post winter vacations

HCEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon chairs meeting regarding reopening of schools post winter vacations

Kargil, Feb 26, 2024:Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a review meeting pertaining to reopening of schools in the district post winter vacations.

Executive Councilor, Tourism, Kacho Mohd Feroz, Executive Councillor, Social Welfare, Aga Syed Mujtaba, Executive Councillor, Education, Zakir Hussain, Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse and Chief Education Officer, Kargil, S.D Wangyal were present during the meeting.

During the meeting, thorough deliberations and discussions were held, leading to the decision that, due to the current weather conditions, heavy snowfall accumulation, and accessibility issues in various subdivisions including Zanskar, Drass, and Taisuru of Sankoo, and with the health of the students in mind, schools will reopen by March 15, 2024.

The HCEC also directed the concerned officers to do necessary arrangements for reopening of schools.
