Secretary, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan inspects status of ongoing, new tourism development works in Nubra Valley

Interacts with public delegations to know their issues, development needs

Leh, Aug 08: – On the second day of his tour of the Nubra Valley Secretary, Tourism and Culture, UT Ladakh, Kacho Mehboob Ali Khan on Sunday inspected the pace of progress on various ongoing and new tourism infrastructure development works.

 

The Secretary visited Diskit, Hunder, Skuru, Turtuk, Tyakshi, Thang and adjoining villages where he took stock of the status of tourism development works under the State Sector Budget, SDP, and Swadesh Darshan schemes.

Secretary, Mehboob Ali Khan also interacted with public delegations at various locations and listened to their problems and demands. He assured them of due consideration.

 

At the Hunder Sand Dunes, Secretary Khan instructed the concerned officers to prepare a DPR for the establishment of camel and tourist hold area, public convenience, heritage walk/Silk Route walk area, provision of dustbins, benches, drinking water facility, and other requisite facilities. He also interacted with the camel owners and members of travel trade associations and urged them to cooperate with the Tourism Department for maintaining cleanliness at the sand dunes.

 

Secretary, Khan also visited the historic Diskit Monastery and while reviewing the progress achieved on the ongoing works on the construction of the courtyard, public convenience and tiling work stressed for completion of works within the set timelines. He also visited the Tourist Reception Center at Diskit and directed the concerned officers to prepare a DPR for repair, renovation of the tourist centre and landscaping works with winter-friendly facilities through a consultant.

 

At border village Thang, Secretary, Khan while underlining the need for upscaling tourist facilities instructed the officers of Leh Development Authority and PWD Nubra to prepare DPR for the establishment of public convenience, parking facilities, and improvement of motorable roads.

 

The Secretary, Tourism and Culture also inspected the status of progress achieved on Swadesh Darshan projects being executed by NBCC at Skuru, Diskit and Turtuk and stressed on accelerating the pace of execution of these projects to ensure their completion by the end of September this year. He directed the SDM Nubra to monitor the progress of Swadesh Darshan works and submit monthly reports in this regard.

 

Director, Tourism Department, Ladakh Kunzes Angmo; Sub Divisional Magistrate, Nubra Dorjay Gyaltson; Executive Engineer, Tourism Development Authority, Leh Tsering Angchuk; OSD/Under Secretary, Tourism and Culture Department, Muhammad Ali Tak, Assistant Executive Engineer, R&B SSD, Nubra, Kacho Shujaat Ali Khan besides other concerned officers accompanied the Secretary during the tour.
