Secy, Agriculture flags-off first road shipment of Fresh Apricots from Leh to Mumbai

Leh, July 28: Secretary, Agriculture & Horticulture, Ravinder Kumar flagged off the first road shipment of Fresh Apricots from Leh to Mumbai on 26th July.

This marks a significant milestone in the history of Ladakh’s horticulture industry, showcasing the region’s exceptional agricultural prowess to a broader market.

Building on the success of last year’s Apricot exports, Zakir Zaidi CEO of Harman Apricots Ladakh, in collaboration with DJ Exports Pvt. Ltd, has taken a momentous step by successfully initiating the supply of premium Apricots from the serene landscapes of Ladakh to the bustling metropolis of Mumbai. This landmark achievement not only enhances the economic opportunities for the local farmers and entrepreneurs but also strengthens the trade ties between Ladakh and Mumbai.

Apricots are renowned for their exquisite taste, nutritional value, and unique characteristics that flourish in the favourable climatic conditions of Ladakh. By expanding the reach of these delectable fruits to Mumbai, consumers in the city can now relish the freshness and goodness of Ladakh’s Apricots right at their doorstep. This endeavour reflects the spirit of collaboration and entrepreneurship that resonates within the horticulture industry of Ladakh.

Ravinder Kumar, Secretary Horticulture, expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders involved in making this venture a reality.
