Sheep Husbandry Dept organises breeder camp at Liktsay

Leh, Aug 22: Sheep Husbandry Department, Nyoma organised a one-day breeder camp at Liktsay village in Nyoma subdivision in presence of Councillor Rong, Thinles Nurboo.

District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Leh, Dr Tundup Namgail; Assistant Director, Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma, Sarpanch and Nambarder were also present.

During the occasion, a detailed discussion held regarding reviving livestock rearing in Liktsay village as it already has sufficient pastures to sustain large scale livestock population.

Introduction of milk replacer in order to prevent winter-born kid/lamb mortality, KCC loan availability to sheep/goat herders were also discussed.

The camp stressed on promoting advanced and sustainable rearing practices to help achieving organic farming targets.

The camp also included an interactive session where the breeders put forth their demands as well as shared their feedback.
