Sheep Husbandry Dept organises breeder camp in Matho

Leh, Aug 18: The Sheep Husbandry Department, Leh organised a one-day breeder camp at Matho village on August 17 under the guidance of District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO), Leh, Dr Tundup Namgial.

DSHO Leh, Dr Namgial stressed the need of reviving livestock rearing in Matho village where sufficient pastures are available to sustain a large livestock population. He also informed the breeders about the importance of advanced and sustainable livestock rearing practices to help in achieving organic farming targets, income generation for rural youths and improving domestic production of livestock products that will aid in achieving self-sufficiency for farmers.

The breeders of Matho village along with village representatives were briefed about the recent departmental schemes, emerging zoonotic diseases and various infectious-cum-contagious diseases of animals.

The camp also included an interactive session where the breeders put forward their demands and shared their feedback.
