SVEEP awareness program for Special Summary Revision held at Shakar Chiktan

Kargil, November 04, 2022: Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) awareness program for Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Photo Electoral Rolls and a sensitization program organized by District SVEEP Team Kargil was held today at Govt. Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Shakar Chiktan.

SDM Shakar Chiktan Muhammad Sharief was chief guest on the occasion. Tehsildar/AERO Shakar Chiktan Ghulam Rasool, BMO Chiktan Dr Zara Batool, Principal Govt. Higher Secondary School Chiktan Mehfuz Ali, SVEEP expert Sajad Hussain, ZPO, public representatives, young prospective voters, staff of GHSS Chiktan, Sarpanchs, Panchs, BLOs and students of GHSS Chiktan attended the program.

Speaking on the occasion, the SDM stressed on awareness and said that youth should learn how to cast their vote for the right candidate.

While taking feedback from students of GHSS, he tried to involve them in activities of casting vote and asked questions related to voting process and electoral rolls. The SDM said voter is responsible for his/her vote as one vote can decide future of the country or any region.

On the occasion, AERO Ghulam Rasool directed the concerned BLOs to complete the documentation of every eligible candidate before the qualifying dates.

BMO Dr Zara Batool requested the SVEEP team for clarification about the eligibility of mentally unsound persons.

Earlier, in the opening speech, the AERO welcomed all the participants and briefed them about the theme of the awareness program.

While briefing about the eligibility criteria for voting, he said every person who is 18 years old or above up to January 01, 2023, or April 01, 2023, or July 01, 2023, or October 01, 2023, can register from November 09 to December 12, 2022, on www.voterportal.eci.gov.in.

During the awareness program, core member Bashir Hussain presented a detailed presentation and showed the progress and awareness among people owing due to SVEEP programs held from 2019 to 2022.

In his presentation, SVEEP expert Sajad Hussain showed the procedure for filling forms on Garuda App and displayed two ways of filling forms online and offline.

He also talked about the procedure of registration process and instructed that while registering online, a candidate must save their reference number. Later, Bashir Hussain presented vote of thanks to SDM and all other participants and extended his good wishes.

The SVEEP awareness program was followed by celebration of Anti-Corruption Week. During the program, the SDM highlighted the importance of the anti-corruption week. Later, a pledge-taking ceremony was also held in Urdu and English separately for the general public and citizens.
