Union Minister Sonowal lays foundation stone of NISR new complex

Leh, Sept 09: The foundation stone of new complex of National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR), Leh was laid on September 08 by Union Minister of AYUSH and Ports Shipping and Water Ways, GoI, Sarbananda Sonowal at Saboo Thang, Leh.

The event was also graced by Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development and AYUSH, Dr. Mahindrabhai Munjpara and other dignitaries.

Union Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, in his speech, said that the new infrastructure of NISR will further boost the potential of Sowa-Rigpa in the country. This will also provide a much-needed modern platform for propagating the rich India medicinal heritage Sowa-Rigpa through quality research and education.

It was assured by both the Union Ministers to give full support for preservation and promotion of Sowa-Rigpa by the Ministry of AYUSH.

During the occasion, Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Special Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH, Pramod Kumar Pathak; and Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education, U.T. Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotowal also addressed the gathering.

An MoU was also signed between National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa and Ambrosia Food Farm Co. Uttrakhand by Director, NISR, Leh, Dr. Padma Gurmet and Managing Partner, Ambrosia Co. Gourvendra Gangwar.

At the end, Dr. Padma Gurmet presented the vote of thanks.

Executive Councillor, Ghulam Mehdi, Councillors of LAHDC, Leh, Senior Officers of U.T Administration and District Administration, CPWD Officers and Amchis were present during the event.

Similarly, the Administrative Block of National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa was also inaugurated by Union Ministers and they interacted with students of NISR.
