UoL’s ten-day Rock Climbing & Compact Adventure Course concluded

Leh, Oct 16: The ten days Rock Climbing and Compact Adventure Course organized by the University of Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Mountaineering and Adventure Club (LMAC) concluded with a formal valedictory programme at Melongthang Campus, University of Ladakh on October 12.

Commissioner/Secretary, Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh, Padma Angmo graced the programme as chief guest. Dean Academic Affairs, UoL, Prof Deskyong Namgyal; Dean Students Welfare, UoL, Dr Jigmat Dachen; Working Chairman, LMAC, Rigzen Dolkar; Secretary LMAC, Urgain Lhundup; Member, Executive Board, LMAC, E. S Gergan were also present during the programme.

Comm/Secy, Padma Angmo congratulated the University of Ladakh and LMAC for successfully conducting the ten-day course. She further emphasised the University of Ladakh to make Mountaineering and Rock Climbing a skilled course in colleges and the university. Comm/Secy requested the LMAC to provide voluntary service for the initial years to make the course sustainable in future.

In the end, the chief guest distributed the certificates among the participants.

Twenty selected Students of the University of Ladakh from the Kargil and Leh campuses participated in the course.

Mountaineering and Rock Climbing offers diverse career options in Army, Paramilitary, Travel and Tourism related job/business and as mountain guides.
