Vice Chancellor, UoL, Prof. S. K. Mehta attends valedictory session of training programs on DRR tools at Kargil Campus

Kargil, June 17, 2023:

Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. S. K. Mehta today attended the valedictory session of three regional training programs on Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation (DRR) tools, planning and strategies, organized by Kargil Campus, UoL in collaboration with the National Institute of Disaster Management at the varsity’s Kargil Campus.

Rector Kargil Campus, Dr Kaneez Fatima, HoD at NIDM, Anil K Gupta, Young Professional, Fatima Amin from NIDM besides other concerned officers, trainees from various government departments were present during the ceremony.

Addressing the occasion, Prof. Mehta said the event was aimed to make participants, who are dealing with disaster, aware so that they can disseminate information with the masses about whatever they learned during the workshop.

The Vice-Chancellor said certificate courses in Disaster Management and Climate Change Cell will be introduced in the University very soon.

He expressed that students should get opportunities to study in their hometown only and the UoL is making all efforts to fulfill that requirement.

Anil K Gupta, HOD at NIDM said Kargil has several geographical and climatic challenges therefore it was the appropriate place to hold the workshop.

Rector Kargil Campus, UoL, Dr Kaneez Fatima thanked the District Administration Kargil for sincere cooperation for providing dedicated trainees from various departments.

She expressed hope that the trainees will disseminate whatever they learned to the general public so that they are made aware about the basics of disasters. Later, the dignitaries were felicitated with momentos and the participants were awarded appreciation certificates.
