1st UT Ladakh Fastest Roller-Skating Championship 2022 concludes

Leh, Nov 06: The first UT Ladakh Fastest Roller-Skating Championship 2022, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), LAHDC, Leh in collaboration with Ladakh Roller-Skating Association and Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh, concluded today at Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh.

Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh, Tsering Angchuk was the chief guest during the occasion whereas Councillor Upper Leh, PS Tsepag, and Councillor Igoo, Sonam Thardos were the guest of honor. The event was also attended by DYSSO Leh, CEO Leh, Assistant Secy JKBOSE Leh, President Ladakh Roller-Skating Association, and participants from various schools along with their parents.

In his address, Dy Chairman Angchuk stressed the need for encouraging students to engage in physical activities including sports. He urged all the parents to balance the day-to-day lives of their wards equally with academics as well as co-curricular activities. He further appreciated the efforts of the organisers in organising the first Roller-Skating Championship. He added that various sports infrastructures are being developed in Ladakh, and soon with the inauguration of the Indoor Stadium sports activities will get an additional impetus.

He also expressed hope that in the coming years Ladakh would witness talents who could participate at the national as well as international levels in these sports.

Participants and officials were felicitated during the closing ceremony. More than 200 participants across age groups participated in the first UT Ladakh Fastest Roller-Skating Championship 2022.

The different categories of the championship include Cadet group for children between 5 to 8 years; Sub Junior group for children between 9 to 12 years; Junior group for 13 to 16 years old, and other categories for above 17 and above 35 years.
