ADC Kargil chairs preparatory meeting for ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign

 

Kargil, August 01, 2023: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-ud-In Wani, today presided over a preparatory meeting to discuss the upcoming ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign in the district.

 

The meeting was attended by Programme Officer of ICDS, Assistant Commissioner Development, Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarter, Divisional Forest Officer, District Panchayat Officer, District Education Planning Officer and Assistant Regional Transport Officer, among others.

 

During the meeting, District Panchayat Officer Kargil, Padma Angmo, shared details about the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. This campaign is an integral part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebration, commemorating 75 years of Indian Independence.

 

At the Panchayat level, the meeting was informed that the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ program will be organized to honor the heroes of the country.

 

Memorial plaques will be placed, particularly near the Amrit Sarovar reservoir. A solemn Panchprana pledge will be taken and participants will upload selfies on the dedicated campaign website. Additionally, each village Panchayat across the country will plant 75 local tree saplings.

 

The meeting was also informed that defense personnel, police personnel, Central Armed Police Force, and the families of freedom fighters will be honored during the campaign. Further it was informed that the process involves collecting soil from villages and bringing it to the respective Panchayats and then to the block.

 

One youth from each block will carry an earthen pot and proceed towards Delhi’s Kartvya Path. Amrit Bhatika will be created using soil brought by 7500 youth from each block on Kartavya Path in Delhi, and the final ceremony will be organized there. The ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ Campaign will also extend to urban areas within the district.

 

To ensure the campaign’s successful implementation, ADC Kargil directed all line departments to maintain close coordination with each other.

 

He assigned specific roles and responsibilities to respective departments and directed them to adhere to the program schedule set from August 09 to 15, 2023. This timeline will mark the culmination of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign.
