CEC attends closing ceremony of 6-day IT-based training for artisans of Kargil

Kargil, October 22, 2022:

Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan today attended the closing ceremony of the six-day training of artisans of Kargil under IT Enabled Incubation Centre for Handloom and Handicraft Sector at DIET, Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve, District Superintendent Handloom, Department, Kargil Iftikhar Ahmad, Assistant Director Handicraft Niyaz ul Hasnain, Project Manager Fariha Fatima beside other concerned officials were present during the occasion.

On the occasion, the CEC congratulated the NIELIT for conducting such training and for implementing this program to address the existing skill gaps among the artisans.

He said that such training will increase their knowledge about the modern value chain in handcraft work and asked the artisans to review local products. The CEC also suggested the concerned to organize a mela during the tourist season and also briefed about the advantages of such skills.

He further said that marketing is a very useful tool for artisans and entrepreneurs and they should also focus on that as well. He said that these artisans and entrepreneurs can set an example for others.

Khan extends his best wishes to the participants for the successful program. He also asked the organizers to continuously take feedback from participants regarding the program.

Furthermore, the CEC assured to provide all possible help from the LAHDC Kargil besides assured to organize such training in the future at a larger scale.

Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve also appreciated the NIELIT for organizing such a training program and asked the artisans to focus on making unique products.

He informed about the subsidy schemes of the council and assured to provide all equipment to Self Help Groups. The Dc congratulated and extended his best wishes to the participants.

Earlier, Mudassir Elyaz presented a detailed presentation on activities and achievements of the NIELIT, Leh and Kargil. Certificates were also distributed to the artisans for successfully completing the training.

The training program included awareness in computer, e-commerce portal and e-marketing, internet fundamentals, entrepreneurship, soft skills and digital photography.
