CEC Feroz Khan takes stock of ongoing widening, construction works by NHIDCL on Kargil Zanskar Road NH-301

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmed Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Santosh Sukhadeve today visited various sites from Kurbathang to Sankoo to take stock of the ongoing widening and construction works by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) on the Kargil Zanskar Road NH-301.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kargil Tsering Motup, Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Kargil Abdul Gaffar Zargar, General Manager, NHIDCL Ashwini Kumar, Executive Engineer R&B-II Kargil Kacho Mehmood Ali besides other concerned officers accompanied the CEC and the DC during the visit.

General Manager NHIDCL Ashwani Kumar apprised the CEC Kargil about the ongoing widening and construction works on the National Highway NH-301 and also gave details about the various land issues with regard to the road construction sites.

The GM, NHIDCL also informed that as per the proposal of the NHIDCL, the total width of the road has to be about 18 meters, and in case of various densely populated locations, widening up to 12 meters will be proposed to the higher authorities. He urged the CEC to persuade the people residing along the Kargil Zanskar Highway to make available land for road widening works.

CEC Feroz Khan assured the GM, NHIDCL that the LAHDC, Kargil will soon convene a meeting with the public representatives including Councillors as well as the PRI members including BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs to discuss the issues pertaining to land acquisition for the widening and construction works of the NH-301 and all out efforts will be made to address the issues on priority.

Meanwhile, CEC Khan stressed that compensation of land should be given to people on time and further directed the concerned officers of NHIDCL to take due care to avoid unnecessary damage to public property and natural resources during the road construction and widening works.
