Commissioner Secretary chairs meeting to discuss progress on infrastructure work by BRO in UT Ladakh

Leh, April 15: Commissioner Secretary, Public Works Department (PWD), UT Ladakh, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, today chaired a meeting to review the progress on infrastructure work by BRO in UT Ladakh.

While discussing the construction of roads/tunnel work assigned to BRO by UT funding, the Commissioner/Secretary stressed the importance of road signages to help prevent accidents and protect people on the road. He directed the concerned officials to create ‘Road Safety Awareness Corners’ at major stopovers. He emphasized placing the signages in such a way that the drivers have enough time to respond to the command given by each sign.

The officials briefed the Commissioner/Secretary, PWD about the status of various ongoing works/projects being executed. The Commissioner Secretary gave special emphasis on the use of quality material and the cleanliness of roads. He also directed the concerned officials to expedite the pace of work and ensure that the project gets completed within the stipulated period of time.

In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the status of AAA of various roads/tunnel work assigned to BRO by UT funding; status of DPR/construction of roads work assigned to BRO by UT funding; Chushul Demchok Road-Wildlife clearance; improvement of road through Warila Axis; and issues discussed by the Chief Engineer, Vijayak and Himank with the Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh.

The Commissioner/Secretary also supported the officials’ suggestion to use plastic waste in road construction to eliminate single-plastic use and assured full support from the administration.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, Himank; Chief Engineer, Vijayak; Chief Engineer, PWD, (R&B) Ladakh; DS(PWD) Ladakh; AD(P); and SAO(B).
